Oru Kayak: The Origami Folding Boat w/video

Source: Oru Kayak
I’m not gonna lie, the thought of an origami boat brings back some residual stress of trying to fold those tiny animal shapes as a kid.  They all seemed to end up looking the same, a crumpled ball of frustration.  Then again, none of those folded figures offered the freedom or adventure of the open water like the Oru Kayak.

We’ve looked a couple different folding boats before but neither seem as cost effective or as viable as this Kickstarter project.  If you are unfamiliar with Kickstarter, it is a crowd sourced funding platform for startup companies.  Check out the Oru Kayak page to get the full details and to maybe even snag of of the origami crafts for yourself before their first couple production runs are sold out.  With 20 days of project funding still left, these origami masters have almost tripled their funding goal.  If you purchase now you can get a $50 discount off the full priced kayak ($850).  Not bad for a 12 foot boat that folds down into a 33” X 29” X 10” carry case.
