The Silver Arrows of the Water

Source: Mercedes-Benz
Consider my interest officially piqued.  The Silver Arrow racing cars of old are quite possibly the most iconic open wheeled race cars ever.  The original 1930s racer was so meticulously engineered that all the paint and lead primer was removed to reduce weight; it was originally going to race with a white paint job.  Somehow I don’t think the name “White Arrow” would have carried as much prestige.

The newly formed, UK based, luxury yacht company, Silver Arrows Marine promises to deliver what CEO Jacopo Spadolini calls “a profile unlike anything else on the water.”  The boat gurus at Silver Arrows Marine will join with the design gurus at Mercedes-Benz Style to produce a vessel fitting of the Silver Arrows name and heritage.

So far the only solid information released about the boat is the length.  The first images of the 14 meter (45ft) luxury motor yacht will be revealed at the official Silver Arrows Marine design presentation for press and clients at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show in September.  We’ll keep you updated as more details are leaked.

It takes some brass ones to make a statement like “The Silver Arrow of the Water”, but I think Mercedes-Benz Style will be up to the challenge.  If you are unfamiliar with the racers, click past the jump for a video on a bit of their history.

You can access the official press release here.
